Starfish Overview

Starfish is a dynamic tool that helps faculty, staff, and students work together to foster holistic student support and promote student success. By integrating early interventions, personalized outreach, and access to resources, Starfish enables faculty and staff to build stronger relationships with students and connect them to the supports they need to succeed. Through data-driven insights and streamlined communication, Starfish helps us to create a greater sense of belonging through a more connected, supportive college community.

How Starfish Supports Students

These features, along with many others, work together to create a more connected, coordinated, and supportive campus community that can better meet the needs of students.

Using Starfish Appointments, students can connect with advisors, counselors, success coaches, tutors, instructors, and other support providers. Students can view availability, schedule appointments, and receive reminders.

Through Degree Planner, students and advisors can work together to create and maintain an academic plan, map coursework, monitor progress, and prepare for future semesters.

Kudos allow faculty and staff to recognize student accomplishments, positive behaviors, and academic progress. Whether celebrating strong performance, improvement, persistence, or engagement, kudos reinforce student success and help foster a greater sense of belonging.

Progress Surveys, Flags, and To-Dos support timely outreach and intervention. Faculty and staff can identify concerns, provide feedback, and connect students with resources before challenges become barriers to success.

Using Starfish Referrals, faculty and staff can connect students to academic, personal, financial, and other support resources. Referrals help coordinate support across departments and services.

Notes, Messaging, and Tracking Items help faculty and staff document interactions, share information appropriately, and maintain a record of support activities to promote coordinated care.
